Plot of land for golf course, hotel and villas. Set in the hills above the coastal town of Lagos in the Western Algarve, this development of a golf course for a 300 bed hotel will be in the first phase and then two more phases of townhouses, apartments and villas.

This superb plot of land has been developed to include not only a fabulous golf course in the rolling hills but also nature trails, horse riding facilities and numerous lakes.

The design of the Corte Velada Golf Course is of such quality that it will be attractive to all golfers visiting Portugal. The architects idea is to design a modern golf course in keeping the natural beauty of the countryside in this special part of Algarve. The intention is to make the golf course look natural in full harmony with the surrounding landscape and the existing vegetation. The benefit of this planning means that less water and less fertilizers are required, resulting in it being environmentally, ecologically and maintenance friendly.

The design philosophy means respecting the imperfect features of nature, the nature itself and the game of golf as it was meant to be played. The architect has studied the site and its history and the main features and contour lines in order to incorporate them in the final design. It takes experience to know when to keep a slope as it is or when to reshape or soften it, or when to move some earth to make a flat site interesting. But every time you move earth, you have to do it the correct way, not only to keep the local character intact, but to make great contours for the game of golf. The nine lakes on the course give a year round supply of water for irrigation as well as being an important aesthetic part of the course.

To create a golf course in the Corte Velada landscape, much time has been spent on site during the preliminary design process. Once construction begins there will be close collaboration between the architect and the excavation team.

The potential of a golf course development in the Algarve where other courses and hotels are already full is a superb opportunity for international developers and investors.

Western Algarve

The west of the Algarve is without doubt one of the most beautiful and authentic regions in all of Portugal.

With a thriving coastline, the western Algarve is the least urbanised region in Portugal, meaning it has a vibrant collection of nationally protected nature reserves and gorgeous beaches. The traditional fishing villages are effervescent with life and Portuguese culture, with the fresh seafood caught daily by local fishermen supplementing some of Portugal's finest seafood dining.

You can easily stroll across the shoreline and between villages by following one of the many footpaths.

How to Get There

For those travelling internationally, flying to Faro airport is the best option. Faro Airport lies just two and a half miles from Faro- the capital of the Algarve. If you're making your way to Lagos, you'll have to plan ahead for the 90km journey from Faro airport to Lagos.

While there's no public transport hub at Faro airport, Eva buses operate between the airport and Faro City, and from Faro City you can catch a bus or a train to Lagos. A bus takes approximately two hours and ten minutes to reach Lagos, and a train takes about one hour and fifty minutes.

You can make use of public transport or you could rent a car or jump in a cab to the Western Algarve which is under an hour.

The Algarve enjoys a warm climate which means that the weather remains mild and sunny all year round.

The region has an average of over 3,000 hours of sunny skies each year, making the Algarve the perfect destination no matter what month of the year it is.
